Samsung warns of 32% hit to profits on chip slump

Technology giant Samsung has warned of a 32% slide in its profits as demand for electronic devices and the memory chips that power them shrinks due to the global economic slowdown. The South Korean company estimates its quarterly operating profit was about 10.8tn won ($7.6bn; £6.9bn).

Google to open first Japan data centre in 2023

Google will open its first data centre in Japan in Inzai City, Chiba in 2023.
The Chiba data centre is part of a US$730 million investment in infrastructure that began last year and will continue through to 2024.

Google Cloud announces first cloud regions in Norway and Sweden

Google Cloud has announced its first cloud regions in Norway and Sweden, saying these give businesses the choice to keep their data onshore, retain data sovereignty and enable digital modernisation. The regions will be matched by 100 percent renewable energy annually and aim to operate on carbon-free energy around the clock by 2030.
