Virgin Media O2 has revealed it's customers have smashed previous data usage records - with 39 billion gigabytes of data used across their fixed and mobile networks since June 1, 2021.

Airtel Africa acquires $42m worth of spectrum in DRC

Airtel Africa has bought an additional spectrum worth around US$42 million in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The company revealed it had acquired 58MHz of additional spectrum spread across the 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600MHz bands.

Elettra to link 21 Italian islands with subsea cable

The subsidiary of Orange Marine, Elettra, has been selected by Infratel Italia to supply and install a new subsea cable that will connect 21 Italian islands.
This project, known as Piano Isole Minori (minor islands plan) is forms part of the wider Strategia Italia 2026 plan.

Orange Poland signs 10-year network expansion deal with Nokia

The improved deal, which will cover 50 percent of Orange’s network in northern Poland and run until 2036, will see the modernization of the operator’s existing radio network infrastructure as well as enhance its 5G capabilities

Deutsche Telekom Taps 700 MHz Frequency for its 5G Network

Deutsche Telekom announced that it is now using a new frequency in its 5G network: 700 megahertz (MHz).

With this, Deutsche Telekom is improving mobile communications coverage in rural areas. More customers can now surf the internet faster at the same time.

At least 1,400 rural phone boxes protected from closing

Ofcom has brought in new rules to protect rural phone boxes from closure.
The UK telecoms regulator said it will stop British Telecom (BT) from closing down phone boxes in areas with poor mobile signals if they are needed by local communities.
