swiss army bans whatsapp, signal and telegram for soldiers on duty

The Swiss Army prefer them to use the Swiss-made app Threema. The rules will mean that Switzerland's conscripts doing military service and people returning for refresher courses do not inadvertently expose military information to foreign parties.

ces 2022: colour changing cars and remotes that eat wifi

One of the tech calendar's biggest annual events, CES, has been taking place in Las Vegas this week. BMW showed off how a car's exterior could effectively become ePaper which, when charged with a small electric current, changes colour or creates a pattern.

lg electronics joins ibm quantum network

LG Electronics will gain access to IBM's quantum computing systems including IBM's open-source quantum information software development kit. Through this collaboration, LG Electronics aims to explore the applications of quantum computing in industry to support big data, AI, connected cars, digital transformation, IoT and robotics applications.

The setting will follow other cars more closely, change lanes more frequently, not leave the overtaking lane, and perform rolling stops. Such driver behaviour by humans is often discouraged by safety groups.

wednesday:

people devote third of waking time to mobile apps

People are spending an average of 4.8 hours a day on their mobile phones, according to app monitoring firm App Annie. In 2020, UK regulator Ofcom found similar amounts of time spent, although its research included watching TV. App Annie's report indicates that apps were downloaded 230 billion times in 2021, while £125bn was spent.

ukraine: 'massive cyber attack' shuts down government websites

"As a result of a massive cyber attack, the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of other government agencies are temporarily down," the spokesman for the foreign ministry said. The government said the content of the sites had not been changed, and no personal data was leaked.

meta faces billion-pound class-action case

Up to 44 million UK Facebook users could share £2.3bn in damages, according to a competition expert intending to sue parent company Meta. Dr Liza Gormsen alleges Meta "abused its market dominance" to set an "unfair price" for free use of Facebook - UK users' personal data.
