Digicel ‘aims to complete $1.6bn Pacific sale’ by end of July

Digicel’s US$1.6 billion sale of its Pacific business to Telstra is likely to close by the end of July, according to reports from Ireland, the home of Digicel’s owner Denis O’Brien.

South Korea’s largest telco to launch crypto wallet

SK Telecom plans to offer a digital crypto wallet for its users, Forkast reported. The South Korea-based telco has named AhnLab Blockchain Company and Atomrigs Labs as its partners for the project.

EE to block pirate music mobile sites and apps

EE is to become the first UK mobile network to block access to pirate music websites.

Music-industry body the British Phonographic Institute successfully petitioned the courts to block file-sharing site The Pirate Bay in 2012.

AWS Cloud WAN connects on-prem data centers, branches, regions

Amazon Web Services introduced AWS Cloud WAN, a new managed wide area network (WAN) service that connects on-premises data centers, colocation facilities, branch offices, and AWS Regions into a single, unified global network with just a few clicks in a central management dashboard.

 

Stonepeak to buy $2.5bn stake in American Tower's US data centre business

Stonepeak, on behalf of certain affiliated investment vehicles, confirms that it is to acquire a 29% stake in American Tower’s US data centre business.

Netflix and Microsoft team up for cheaper plan with adverts

The streaming giant says the service will be an "addition" to its existing plans, which do not include adverts. The company has not yet revealed how much it plans to charge subscribers for the new service.
