OneWeb launches sixth batch of internet satellites

The London-based satellite operator OneWeb has just put up its sixth batch of broadband internet spacecraft. Thirty-six new platforms were launched from Russia's Far East, bringing the total in-orbit constellation to 182.

Canadian edge data centre firms merge

Toronto's Canada15Edge Data Center has merged with Alberta's Whipcord to form Whipcord Edge Data Centers. The deal will allow Whipcord Edge to support the “continued growth of its customers” in both eastern and western Canada, said the new firm.

Internet access: 1.5m UK homes still offline, Ofcom finds

About 1.5 million homes in the UK still do not have internet access, a report by Ofcom has found. The regulator has released its annual snapshot of online and media habits in the UK, which this year spans all three lockdowns.

Edgeconnex expands data centres across six us cities

EdgeConneX is adding an extra 20MW of capacity across six of its US data centre markets to help address demand from customers, and is promising to up capacity in other areas too. Initially, EdgeConneX will add around 20MW of new capacity across its existing sites in the Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Miami, Detroit and Chicago markets.
