Samsung profits plunge as demand for gadgets slows
Samsung expects its profits for the last three months of 2022 to fall by 69% to the lowest level in eight years. The world's biggest maker of memory chips, smartphones and TVs forecast its operating profit for the period fell to around 4.3tn won ($3.4bn; £2.8bn). WhatsApp to enable messaging in internet blackouts
Instant-messaging service WhatsApp lets users connect via proxy servers to stay online if the internet is blocked or disrupted by shutdowns. The technology giant, owned by Meta, said it hoped blackouts such as those in Iran "never occur" again.

YouTube star Logan Paul apologises for CryptoZoo project failure
YouTuber Logan Paul has apologised to fans who lost money after investing in his cryptocurrency game, CryptoZoo. The 27-year-old encouraged people to buy cryptocurrency collectables for what he called a "really fun game that makes you money". But more than a year after its launch, no game has materialised, and Paul has apparently abandoned the project.

Almost 90% of games sold in the UK in 2022 were digital - ERA
Digital sales accounted for almost nine out of every 10 video games sold in the UK in 2022, according to a trade body. The digital entertainment and retail association (ERA) said 89.5% of games sold had been digital downloads, and the remaining 10.5% were actual physical copies.

eSIM market to reach $16bn in 2027
According to a study from Juniper Research, the global eSIM market will increase from US$4.7 billion in 2023 to US$16.3 billion by 2027. The market is set to be driven by the adoption of eSIM-enabled consumer devices, as seen in Apple’s recent release of the eSIM-only iPhone 14. eSIMs are embedded within devices, allowing them and sensors to switch between network operator profiles seamlessly.
