Ericsson says: ‘Yes, we lied,’ and pays new $206m fine

Ericsson lied to US authorities when it tried to settle a corruption case in 2019 and has paid a further fine of more than US$206 million. The earlier fine, for corrupt practices in China, Djibouti, Egypt, Kuwait and Vietnam, was of $1,060,570,432. Now it has to pay an extra $206,728,848.

e& launches 5G standalone network in MENA

etisalat by e& confirms the first commercial deployment of its 5G standalone (SA) network in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). etisalat by e& first launched 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) commercially in 2018. With this deployment, etisalat by e& has transitioned from using a 5G radio access network on an existing 4G LTE network to a more advanced 5G network.

Twitter has tech issues for second time in week

Twitter has experienced major problems with posting some images and links - the second time in a week it has suffered technical issues. Clicking on links in posts resulted in users receiving an error message. Twitter said some parts of the service were not "working as expected" and blamed an internal change that "had some unintended consequences".

Elon Musk's Tesla cuts prices again as tries to boost sales

Tesla has cut prices for its electric cars - again - as it tries to boost sales and compete with rival firms. The reductions - worth several thousand pounds, depending on the market and model - have been applied to cars listed for sale on the company's website in the UK, US and elsewhere.

Egyptian govt looks to sell 10% stake in Telecom Egypt

The shares will reportedly be made available to both foreign and domestic investors. This week, sources speaking to Reuters report that the government is looking to offload a 10% of its 80% stake national network operator Telecom Egypt. At its currently share price, this stake would be worth around $150 million.

Google company unveils drone delivery-network ambition

A subsidiary of Alphabet, which owns Google, hopes to develop drone delivery-network technology able to handle millions of orders, within 12 months. Operating drones as a network, Wing says, will improve efficiency.
