Twitter's blue ticks disappear as Musk attacks NY Times

The New York Times has lost its blue tick on Twitter after it said it would not pay to remain verified. Twitter has started removing verification badges from accounts which already had a blue tick, after announcing they would be part of a paid subscription from 1 April.

Vodafone to cut around 1,300 jobs in Germany

The announcement marks the latest in a growing number of staff cuts announced across the industry. Vodafone have become the latest operator to announce redundancies, with plans to cut around 1,300 full-time jobs in Germany revealed by Vodafone Germany in a statement last Wednesday.

Bob Lee dead: Cash App founder dies after San Francisco stabbing

The founder of multibillion-dollar tech company Cash App, Bob Lee, was fatally stabbed near San Francisco city centre on Tuesday, his family has said. Police found a 43-year-old man with stab wounds and treated him before he later died in hospital.

UK to challenge AWS and Microsoft’s cloud domination

The UK telecoms regulator is to refer the cloud business, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft, to the markets regulator. Ofcom (pictured) said this morning that AWS and Microsoft, with a combined market share of 60-70%, to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

TikTok fined £12.7m for misusing children's data

TikTok has been fined £12.7m by the UK's data watchdog for failing to protect the privacy of children. It estimated TikTok allowed up to 1.4 million UK children aged under 13 to use the platform in 2020.

Germany’s 1&1 continues to struggle with 5G rollout

1&1 is a long way from where it needs to be on 5G rollout, as evidenced by new forecasts it shared for the coming year. Germany’s newest mobile operator indicated in its latest full-year results announcement that it expects to have deployed 1,207 5G antenna sites by the end of 2023.
