russia begins $889m polar express artic cable

Russia is reported to have begun work laying its Polar Express subsea cable valued at 65 billion roubles. According to the  Reuters, the new system connecting Europe and Asia through the Arctic zone of Russia, is a state-run project aimed at delivering high-speed internet to its 'remote hydrocarbon-rich north'.

Vodafone has become the second UK mobile company to reintroduce roaming charges for users travelling in Europe. From January, new and upgrading customers will be charged at least £1 a day to use their mobile phone in EU destinations, on several tariffs.
