Vertiv is acquiring E&I Engineering Ireland and its affiliate Powerbar Gulf for around $1.8 billion in cash and shares. With annual sales of approximately $460 million and 2,100 employees, E&I has a blue-chip customer base in more than 30 countries.

three brings in eu roaming charges and ends global scheme

Three is the latest mobile network to announce it is reintroducing roaming charges between the UK and EuropeFrom 23 May 2022, customers who have taken out a new or upgraded contract after 1 October will have to pay £2 a day to use their monthly allowance of minutes, texts and data in the EU.

tuesday:

virgin media 02 flies a kite for 5g-based emergency services

The merged Virgin Media O2 operator in the UK has been showing off 5G-connected drones that are designed to be used by emergency services. The company used a tethered Fotokite Sigma system to receive 5G signals from a base station on the ground and to transfer real-time data to first responders at the location and local hospital teams.

apple rushes to block 'zero-click' iPhone spyware

Apple has issued a software patch to block so-called "zero-click" spyware that could infect iPhones and iPads. Independent researchers identified the flaw, which lets hackers access devices through the iMessage service even if users do not click on a link or file.

consumer credit company swallows neustar for $3.1bn

Neustar, once the company that ran the database of all of North America’s phone numbers, is being bought for US$3.1 billion in cash. The buyer is TransUnion, a consumer credit reporting agency with a market capitalisation of over $23 billion.

three ex-us intelligence officers admit hacking for uae

Three former US intelligence operatives have admitted to breaking US laws by carrying out hacking operations for the UAE. US prosecutors said the men had agreed to pay $1.7m (£1.2m) to resolve charges of computer fraud, access device fraud and violating export controls.

google's grace hopper subsea cable lands in the uk

Google confirms that its Grace Hopper subsea cable had landed in Bude, Cornwall. The 7,000km system was announced in July 2020 and connects New York, US; Bude, Cornwall in the US and Bilbao, Spain.

Colt group commits net zero emissions by 2030

Colt Group has committed to achieve net zero emissions by 2030. The business, which comprises Colt Technology Services and Colt Data Centre Services (DCS), said its roadmap is based on "comprehensive science-based" targets accredited by the Science-Based Targets Initiative.
