India's Department of Telecom (DoT) amended telecom licences to enable service providers to roll out machine-to-machine (M2M) communication in the country. M2M is regarded as a critical factor in 5G adoption. The change has been made to all levels of telecom service licenses.

aldi opens its first till-free supermarket
Aldi has opened its first checkout-free supermarket where people can shop without having to scan a product. Instead, customers can download the Aldi Shop&Go app, and will then be automatically charged for their purchases once they leave the store. A series of hi-tech cameras will track customers as they do their shopping, and then bill them when they leave.

vodafone uk partners with proximie for remote surgery using 5g
Vodafone UK and Proximie have committed to rolling out a network of connected operating theatres so medical staff can remotely assist each other with procedures and training. The partnership follows a successful trial in Wales where hospitals used Proximie’s technology running over Vodafone 5G. By partnering with Vodafone, Proximie will be able to offer its technology to more hospitals and clinicians.

bt to introduce inflation-busting price rises
