Southern Cross Cable Network has completed the marine lay portion of its new Southern Cross NEXT cable branch into Kiribati. The system is due to become ready for service in July 2022, at which point high-speed internet services will be available to Kiritimati users, and will be the first fibre-optic submarine cable connection for Kiribati.

Japanese conglomerate Sony's Indian arm has finalised a deal with local rival Zee Entertainment to form the country's second largest entertainment network. The merged entity will include more than 75 television channels, film assets and two streaming platforms. India has more than 900 million TV viewers and some 800 channels.

According to a Russian news outlet, Ericsson is currently auditing a potential site in Kaliningrad that the company could use to manufacture 4G and 5G equipment. Ericsson could be looking to build a manufacturing plant at the location either alone or with a Russian partner.

An investigation has been launched in the US into more than half a million Tesla cars that are equipped with touchscreens. It follows a complaint filed by a user who discovered he could play games while driving.

It will run from Japan, via Northwest Passage to Europe with landings in Alaska and the Canadian Arctic. European landings are planned in Norway, Finland and Ireland. The cable is aiming to be ready for service by the end of 2026 and will cost around $1.15 billion.
