tesla: hundereds locked out of cars after server outage

Around 500 Tesla car owners were unable to connect to their vehicles due to an app server outage. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said on Friday that the company's mobile application was coming back online after the outage.

el salvador bitcoin city planned at base of conchagua volcano

El Salvador plans to build a Bitcoin city at the base of a volcano, with the cryptocurrency used to fund the project, its president has announced. The site would take advantage of the Conchagua volcano's geothermal energy to power Bitcoin mining, he added.

Lush to stop its social media until it's 'safer'

Cosmetics firm Lush says it is deactivating some social media accounts until platforms "take action to provide a safer environment" for users. The company said that from Friday, its Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Snapchat pages will be shut down.

Samsung chooses Texas as site of new $17bn chip plant 

Samsung has chosen a site close to the city of Taylor in Texas for its new $17bn (£12.7bn) computer chip plant, amid a global shortage of semiconductors. The plant is expected to create 2,000 technology industry jobs, with construction starting early next year.

regulators put the brakes on Ireland's $2.3bn data centre market

Informed by recommendations put forward by EirGrid, the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) published its decision on data centre connection policy on 23 November, stating how connection applications will now include assessment criteria encompassing location and the ability to contribute to security of supply.

huge fines and a ban on default passwords in new uk law

The government has introduced new legislation to protect smart devices in people's homes from being hacked. Recent research from consumer watchdog Which? suggested homes filled with smart devices could be exposed to more than 12,000 attacks in a single week. Default passwords for internet-connected devices will be banned, and firms which do not comply will face huge fines.

indian government set to ban cryptocurrencies

India is set to go ahead with its plan to ban most cryptocurrencies in the country under a long-awaited bill. Expectations had grown in recent months that the government may soften its view on digital currencies. The ban would relate to all private cryptocurrencies with certain exceptions to allow the promotion of the underlying technology and its uses.
