Gulf Information Technology Exhibition also known as GITEX Global is the world’s largest, most inclusive tech and start-up event that unveils new worlds of promise in the UAE and lasts for a week. It is known to be THE technology event for the past 41 years, features every new significant technology trend, and is responsible for connecting 7 tech hubs and 100,000+ business connections.
This year, the event covered industries like smart cities, cybersecurity, healthcare, telecoms, the data economy, and mobility. It was 5 days of unveiling revolutionary developments, futuristic technologies, innovative solutions, AI-driven products, robots, and even self-driving cars.
We have put together 5 highlighted innovations that GITEX Global had to show this year.
1. Xpeng eVTOL X2 Flying Car
GITEX Global 2022 witnessed the first flight from a flying car In Dubai. The Chinese-manufactured electric vehicle, eVTOL X2, was created by the company Xpeng.

The flight lasted 90 minutes and was the first-ever test flight to be conducted. Not only does the car have flight capabilities but also has zero carbon dioxide emissions whilst up in the air. The car is designed to fly at low altitudes, reaching a flight speed of 130 km/hr.
2. HYPERVSN Holographic human and digital signage
HYPERVSN is an award-winning British technology company that showcased the revolutionary 3D Holographic Display System, which offered viewers an immersive experience. Users can build and modify the 3D content with HYPERVSN’s user-friendly tech without any previous specialised knowledge.

3. RTA’s Driverless TaxisDubai is set to have self-driving electric taxis on the road next year. These taxis were on display at GITEX this year shown off by the Roads and Transport Authority. The Cruise Origin taxi is the first autonomous taxi created by Cruise and puts Dubai amongst the first few cities to include self-driving cars in its transport offerings.

As part of the public-private partnership, two Chevrolet Bolt electric cars were mapping the streets of Jumeirah with cameras and sensors.
4. Sensorium Galaxy Metaverse Streaming
The theme of the metaverse was weaved throughout GITEX Global this year and Sensorium, a leading developer within the Metaverse space, prepared experiences for visitors to discover the Sensorium Galaxy Metaverse ahead of its public launch.
One of the Sensorium’s events was an Empyreal Party that took attendees on a tour across locations within Sensorium Galaxy, previewing a version of the metaverse to come. The experience seamlessly incorporated the signature music of the company’s AI-driven virtual DJs.

5. Ameca Humanoid
Ameca is the world’s most advanced human-shaped robot that represents the forefront of human robotics. On display at GITEX this year, the android-like machine is designed as a platform for the future of robotics technology.
Ameca is a great humanoid platform for interactions between humans and robots and can learn to mimic human responses utilising AI to learn.
