ITW 2019: The Road to Atlanta

Written by Ilex Community Manager | 01-Jun-2018 16:23:15

International Telecoms Week (ITW) 2018 was a huge success for the Ilex team. We had our best year yet. It was great to catch up with our clients and B2B tech and telecoms companies from around the world. We shared our thoughts on the future of Carrier business and how innovation really demands communication.

The opening ceremony, panels and keynotes held compelling discussions on the future of our industry. It was clear that there’s a drive towards operational efficiency with a real openness to new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Automation and APIs.

That’s a real step forward. As an industry we’ve been doing a lot of talking but haven’t delivered anything concrete. During the panel discussions and our meetings with different executives it was obvious that we’ve really started to take action.

In the tech and telecoms market, the messages your organisation delivers and how you talk about your innovations matters. Too often companies are innovating without communicating it properly. With all the changes happening across Carrier business, it’s important to effectively convey what you are doing.

With new technologies like APIs and Blockchain on the table, it’s important for organisations to get across to their customers why their innovations matter. It’s not good enough to just make sporadic announcements without trying to create an overarching story to accompany it.

The increasing noise and hype around new technologies demand that businesses need to explain clearly who they are and why their innovation matters. If not, organisations will see less innovative and exciting companies winning business and becoming more successful.

To be recognised for your innovations, it’s important to deliver them with a real and cohesive narrative. Our industry is in a new era and how you communicate defines your success.

Good communications give purpose. It helps frame what you are trying to achieve. You can communicate your vision and then show and demonstrate that you’re trying to execute on it.

From our conversations with our existing clients and prospects in Chicago it seems that there’s real demand for agencies that can understand the tech and still execute at the highest level. Organisations need specific expertise not just generic expertise.

In the tech and telco industry innovation will continue to happen across the ecosystem. The market is constantly changing, and you can change with it. If you don’t successfully convey what you are doing, then you won’t be recognised for your innovations. Communicating your innovations is just as important as the innovation itself.

What are you going to do between now and ITW 2019?

ITW 2018 may be over, but that doesn’t mean your campaign should end. If the sales team had successful meetings at ITW, you need to follow up and engage with prospects.

At Ilex, we help our clients lock in their story and deliver it with PR, Sales Collateral and Thought Leadership content. We understand what it takes to deliver a story that matters and drives momentum.
