Wholesale 5g company books Ericsson to build $2.6bn network in Malaysia 

A new 5G wholesale network aims to cover 80% of the 32 million population of Malaysia by 2024. Government-owned special purpose vehicle (SPV) Digital Nasional has awarded the 11 billion ringgit (US$2.64 billion) construction contract to Ericsson, overturning previous expectations that Huawei would win the deal.

ascendas invests $162m on building first Indian data centre

Ascendas Property Fund Trustee, the trustee-manager of Ascendas India Trust (a-iTrust) is investing over $162 million to develop and operate phase one of a new data centre campus in Airoli, Navi Mumbai.

welsh semiconductor firm bought by Chinese company

Newport Wafer Fab is an electronics firm which produces semiconductors and employs 450 people at its site in Tredegar Park. It has been bought by Nexperia - which already has a site in Manchester.

Average losses from pension scams double in a year, with victims typically losing more than £50,000

Action Fraud said complaint data showed that the average loss this year so far has been £50,949, compared with £23,689 during 2020.

MTS acquires GreenBush data centre for $70m

Russia's mobile operator MTS has acquired the GreenBush data centre in Moscow, which was opened in 2018 as part of a first phase development. The company has paid the equivalent of around $70 million for the data centre.

AT&T AND google cloud expand 5g and edge collaboration 

AT&T and Google Cloud have unveiled new solutions across AT&T's 5G and Google Cloud's edge computing portfolio. These new offerings are also available through AT&T's on-premises multi-access edge compute (MEC) solution, as well as AT&T network edge capabilities through LTE, 5G, and wireline.

$2.5bn cloud data management player Acronis gets new ceo

Cloud data management and security services vendor Acronis has appointed hosting industry veteran Patrick Pulvermueller as its new CEO. Pulvermueller (pictured) succeeds Serguei Beloussov, who founded the company in 2003 and who has served as CEO since 2013.
