Ericsson kickstarts 5G production in Malaysia
Ericsson has chosen Malaysia as one of its 11 manufacturing sites where it will produce 5G radio equipment. The vendor will produce this equipment in Penang, marking its first 5G manufacturing facility in Southeast Asia.

Three builds 100th SRN site
Three UK has built 100 new cell sites as part of the Shared Rural Network (SRN) project. The new sites are providing 4G connectivity to over 37,000 homes across the country, spanning 2,800km. The £1 billion project was signed by the four major UK operators EE, Vodafone, Three UK and O2 (now Virgin Media O2) in 2020.

Zoom orders workers back to the office
Zoom, the video communications company whose name became synonymous with remote work during the pandemic, has ordered staff back to the office. The firm said it believed a "structured hybrid approach" was most effective and people living within 50 miles (80km) of an office should work in person at least twice a week.

Zoom denies training AI on calls without consent
Zoom has updated its terms of service after a backlash over fears that it trained its artificial intelligence (AI) models on customer calls. The video-calling app acted after users noticed changes to the firm's terms of service in March which they worried enabled AI training.

Minister defends safety law on messaging apps

BT, Ericsson make 5G breakthrough
BT and Ericsson have demonstrated the transmission of 5G services in a wideband frequency division duplex (FDD) radio carrier (over 20MHz) within a sub-3GHz spectrum band. The trial also evaluated an intermediate carrier bandwidth of 30MHz.
