BT has announced its ‘Inflame’ prototype, which uses deep reinforcement learning to help enterprises to automatically anticipate and detect cyber threats, as well as responding to overcome these threats in real time. BT Labs in Suffolk used epidemiological modelling methods to explore numerous enterprise network scenarios with different R-rates of cyber-infection.

nhyFBI PROBES CYBER-ATTACK EMAILS SENT FROM INTERNAL SERVER

The FBI has launched an investigation after thousands of fake email messages were sent from one of its servers warning of a possible cyber-attack. According to US media reports, more than 100,000 emails were sent out.

poiGigabit broadband: internet seen as top homebuyer priority

A fast internet connection is now one of the most important factors for homebuyers, according to a survey of 294 estate agents across the UK. Speeds of more than 300Mbps are being sought by 34% of buyers - and, according to 33% of the estate agents, can add £5,000 to the sale price of a home - while 23% want 1Gbps.

Cellnex has been awarded a contract by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to design and build a 5G private network, consisting of a 5G core network and a Radio Access Network, in Basingstoke’s central business district.

Apple has announced a "self-service repair" programme so "customers who are comfortable" can fix their own devices. At launch, in early 2022 in the US, it will cover replacing the batteries, screens and cameras of recent iPhones. But Apple's new repair store will sell more than 200 parts and tools.

Ooredoo Qatar is turning to Ericsson, to supply the telecoms equipment for next year's FIFA World Cup. The partnership will benefit network operation and event management in eight connected stadiums across Qatar, as well as 5G experiences in major tourist attractions.

Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telecom Italia, Telefónica and Vodafone have submitted five recommendations to the European Union to build an Open RAN ecosystem in Europe. According to all parties, open, intelligent, virtualised and fully interoperable RAN is key if Europe is to meet its target of 5G for all by 2030.
