SK Telecom and Uber form flying cars joint venture

SK Telecom has teamed up with Uber to launch a new joint venture in the taxi market in South Korea that will also look ahead to future mobility technologies, such as flying cars.

Uber will invest a total of US$150 million in the as-yet unnamed venture and in SKT’s broader mobility business.

Deutsche Telekom has demonstrated high-speed 4G mobile transmission from a remotely powered aircraft in a project to test ways to expand rural coverage. Nokia to build 4G network on the moon for NASA

NASA has chosen Nokia to build a 4G network on the moon as part of the space agency's Artemis programme, which aims to establish a sustainable human presence there. The Finnish company will build the technology which will be integrated into NASA's lunar landers and used for remote control, as well as streaming high-definition videos.

Solar energy company Sunseap Group is set to supply Facebook with renewable energy to support the tech company's operations in Singapore, including Facebook's first data centre in Asia.

The transaction with Sunseap will help Facebook reach its goal of supporting its operations in the region with 100% renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75%.

Telefónica partners With Allianz for €5bn Germany investment

Telefónica is reportedly partnering with private equity division of German insurer Allianz for a €5 billion infrastructure investment in Germany.

According to Spanish publication, Expansion and as reported by Reuters, Telefonica and Allianz will work together to create a joint venture owned 50% each to develop a fibre-optic network in Germany.

PAYPAL ALLOWS BITCOIN AND CRYPTO SPENDING 

PayPal has entered the cryptocurrency market, announcing that its customers will be able to buy and sell Bitcoin and other virtual currencies using their PayPal accounts.

PayPal plans to roll out buying options in the US over the next few weeks, with the full rollout due early next year.
