The current pandemic is a difficult time for everyone, but the most vulnerable in society are those being impacted the most on a day-to-day basis. Chichester, West Sussex, where Ilex has been based for the last 5 years, is lucky to have a number of charities that are working hard to support local families meet their basic needs of food and support. We have chosen to help the local Trussell Trust foodbank, as well as St Richards Parish Community Fund that was recently established to help those families in the most desperate need.
There has been a huge surge in people using local food banks. The Trussell Trust has reported a huge 81% increase for emergency food parcels during the last two weeks of March 2020, compared to the same period in 2019 – including a 122% rise in parcels given to children. Without their help, many children, in particular those eligible for free school meals, would go hungry.
Lucia Barbato, Director and Co-Founder of Ilex Content Strategies says:
“Our local community has yet again risen to the challenge of supporting those most in need and we are happy to play a small part in that. While no one is untouched by the pandemic, nobody should have to worry about where their next meal for their family will come from. When we founded Ilex nine years ago, we wanted to use our position to help local causes wherever possible and have supported a number of charities over the years. We hope that we will be able to continue to do so.”
Ilex has always supported local charities including Stonepillow, Love Your Hospital, Chestnut Tree House and The Sussex Snowdrop Trust and are regular supporters of the food bank. Ilex has also supported a number of charities through its involvement with Media Trust.
